Ivan Campo
We are thrilled to announce a new addition to our wonderful roster of artists – Ivan Campo!
Ivan Campo are a folk/pop trio who describe themselves as borrowing inspiration “from majesty to malady via reality, and every now and then have been known to wander into the realms of make-believe”. They excel at delicate yet robust close harmony tunes, as timeless as they are current.
We are particularly happy about their decision to join Debt for two reasons (besides their talent and general amicability): they were among the first artists we approached back when we were putting together our original roster in 2009. They were embroiled in all sorts of projects back then and the time wasn’t right – we are very glad to finally have them come aboard (better late than never!). The second reason is that this is Ivan Campo’s tenth anniversary as a band. Quite a landmark!
We’re looking forward to a big year full of new releases, re-releases, collaborations and live events.
Check out their music on their Bandcamp store.
Farewell to The Arbour
It’s been such a joy working with Bridie Jackson and The Arbour, one of the truly exceptional musical acts of our time.
Watching a band that has been quietly plugging away for so long suddenly rocket into the national consciousness in 2013 fired the hopes and imaginations of us all. Hearing them played on mainstream radio and praised by everyone from journalists to DJs to rockstars to infamous dope-dealers just goes to show that hard work and raw talent can propel an artist skywards – without the need for compromise or dirty-dealings.
But as The Arbour’s fame grew at such dramatic speed, we knew that there would come a time when they’d need a bigger team to represent them on the global stage, so we encouraged them to keep their options open and not shrink from parting ways with our little label when the time seemed right.
That day has now come.
So it is with mixed feelings that we say goodbye to these four extraordinary women. On the one hand we are are very sad to see them go, on the other we’re excited to see what the next chapter in their story will be.
Good luck Bridie, Jenny, Rachel and Carol. We will miss you very much.
