The Bedlam Six performed their final show on Friday 30th September. It was completely sold out, a really special night (there are photographs here if you’re curious).

Though the band is no more, they have released one final track as a farewell offering, available as a name-your-price download from their online store. The song is taken from Louis Barabbas‘ musical Jocasta.

Their days may be numbered but that doesn’t stop The Bedlam Six from living every day as if they’ve got everything ahead of them.
They all got together to film a music video for “Lately” the first track on their latest (and final) album Down Down Down. Anyone who’s been in a band or gigged the independent circuit will be familiar with the themes on display.
The video was directed by Louis Barabbas and shot by Marta Niemyjska.

The band’s farewell concert is on Friday 30th September at The Ruby Lounge, Manchester.

OUT NOW: Down Down Down by Bedlam Six

16 September 2016 Louis Barabbas, Releases, The Bedlam Six

Down Down Down

The final album by The Bedlam Six is now on general release, available from iTunes, Spotify, Amazon etc in addition to the band’s own online store.

Down Down Down is their most honest and enjoyable record to date. No frills, no clutter, no complications. Recorded in just four days at the WR Audio live room in Salford, this is the band at their most natural and exuberant.
Indeed the energy levels and optimism of the recording are somewhat beguiling as this release is something of a last hurrah. The group has no plans to play any more shows after the album launch parties.
“It’s kind of an exercise is loose-end tying, like getting your affairs in order before embarking on a long uncertain voyage” says singer Louis Barabbas, “some of our live favourites have never been recorded in the studio, we figured it was time to cut a few definitive versions and then slip away gracefully. That said, there are also plenty of brand new songs… actually I think it contains some of our best work to date.”
The release will mark ten years since the band was formed by Louis and lead guitarist Matthew Cleghorn in Autumn 2006. “Ten years is enough for any project” muses Cleghorn, “if it was enough for The Beatles then who are we to stick around longer?”
There will be two launch parties: the first at The Lexington in London on Saturday 17th September, the second at The Ruby Lounge in Manchester on Friday 30th September.

Bedlam Six announce split

7 September 2016 The Bedlam Six

B6

Debt’s house band and very first signing The Bedlam Six have announced they will split at the end of September after releasing one final album (called Down Down Down) and playing two farewell shows.

Since forming in the Autumn of 2006 (originally called The Black Velvet Band) they have made four LPs, two EPs, one DVD and performed in eleven countries. They have collaborated with the likes of Kirsty Almeida, Hope & Social, Liz Green, John Otway and featured special guests such as John Robb, Richard Barry, She Makes War, Rioghnach Connolly and many more.

The split is entirely amicable and all members have plenty of exciting projects coming up in the future – so watch this space!

Read singer Louis Barabbas’ moving statement about the break-up here.

Catch them live at The Lexington in London on Saturday 17th September and/or The Ruby Lounge in Manchester on Friday 30th September.
