Richard Barry and the Faces At The Window

5 January 2017 Richard Barry

Richard Barry has joined The Faces At The Window, a comedy musical theatre sketch troupe for radio. Their first show, Looking at the Lesser Postcodes, will be the first in a planned series which will reveal the peculiar and comedic characters lurking near some of the UK’s most unremarkable postcodes, showcased in sketches and comic songs in the style of a radio comedy show recording. Buoyed by the success of his acoustic tour with Felix Hagan earlier this year, Louis Barabbas is set to revisit the homes of UK music lovers, this time with Richard Barry. The expedition will take place in October.

In the words of Louis: “There are no fees, no formality… it’s mainly a way of meeting the people who have been buying our records over the years.”

If you’d like to be involved contact Louis here.

As part of Manchester After Hours 2015, we held an Open Recording Session in the Henry Watson Music Room of the Central Library. The session featured a specially formed label supergroup drawn from artists and bands on the label roster, including Richard Barry, Tom Cleghorn, Fanny de Ruiter, Felix Hagan, Fran Lydiatt and T. E. Yates. The song was written by Louis Barabbas and Felix Hagan to mark the 90th anniversary of the publication of Virginia Woolf’s “Mrs Dalloway”.

The video was made by Marta Niemyjska and edited by Matilda Smith.

You can also read a behind the scenes blog about the collaboration.
