Alabaster dePlume’s London Peach Launch

12 November 2015 Alabaster dePlume

alabastervideostill

Alabaster dePlume will be celebrating the London launch of his new LP Peach at a special unamplified concert in Total Refreshment Studios (2.2a Foulden Road, N16 7UR).

Recently played by Max Reinhardt on BBC R3, and produced by Paddy Steer, the album is made up of Ethiopian-influenced jazz, folk songs and poetry. For this special show, Alabaster is joined by Dan Leavers (Soccer 96, The Comet is Coming), Jamie Doe (The Magic Lantern), Will Calderbank (Sons of Noel and Adrian) and others.

Also on the bill, blues trio Bouche, who recently appeared supporting Van Morrison, and whose fresh take on blues is chilling, sparse and above all sincere. Trumpet, double bass, electric guitar and voice. They follow The Magic Lantern, a singer of original folk and jazz who is indeed “An exciting new talent” (Mark Radcliffe, Radio 2) and certainly “Intriguing, compelling and exceptional” (The Guardian).

An art installation, created especially for the event by artist Anne Holme-Peterson, will transform the space and the experience.

Doors are at 7.30pm. There is a Facebook event page here for those wanting regular updates.

Peach is available from all the usual digital retailers as well as the Debt Records shop.

Video: “The Stuff Of Archive” by Louis Barabbas

30 October 2015 Louis Barabbas

Louis Barabbas has released a second track from his upcoming album Gentle Songs Of Ceaseless Horror.

It features the unlucky protagonist from first single You Did This To Me but this time accompanied by a markedly different soundtrack, a simple guitar and tuba arrangement of beguiling sparseness.

The video was shot on the Isle Of Skye by Bryony Anderson. The song was produced by Biff Roxby (who also plays tuba).

Behind The Scenes of Alabaster dePlume’s “I Feel Good”

29 October 2015 Alabaster dePlume

“I Feel Good”, the opening track from Alabaster dePlume‘s latest album Peach, has received public and critical acclaim from all quarters (even being described during BBC Radio 3’s Late Junction as “cheerfully unsettling”). Well now you can take a glimpse behind the curtain of the promo video in this little film by Wilf Merttens. There is also a blog about the occasion by Alabaster himself here. The official video for “I Feel Good” can be watched here.

Peach is now on general release. If you’d like a vinyl copy visit Qrates to pre-order/pledge.
